Update 221124: Added my YouTube video below and made minor changes to text.
Pardon the video intro, my personal call and my pride in both background and future. Manchester is the future as well as the foundation of so much relating to work, and worker rights (think Cooperatives, the Weekend, Suffragettes...) it only seems right to point out. Sign up to receive intermittent updates from me and I will be sure to share more, there are a few things from this video alone to dive deeper into. For now though.
Yes, something is still missing after the Autumn Statement. I have put a list of some of my take outs and it will have a bias towards business and organisational benefits which in most cases have links to Applied Strategic Workforce Planning (you may call it something different of course, the key are the activities and not the name). The message seemed to be that times are tough and will continue to be with NHS being most challenged, thus will get more money although they will have to become better as well. Increase minimum wage and taxes must go up. My take is this means further pressures and challenges for businesses and their workers, both in terms of reduced demand and higher cost.
Resulting in a poorer workforce able to buy less products and services. And so it goes…
What I heard:
Recession will put pressure on business and organisations. We have already seen mass layoffs in the US and strikes and strike warings in the UK (and the US too). I recommend you prepare by having different scenarios for various outcomes and don’t get too hung up on the details or decimals. It is mostly directional and you should know that forecasting failures have been done by; Professors; McKinsey; Bank of England; and many more. Just make sure you are clear and transparent with your assumptions.
How you handle your employees and workers in difficult times has an impact on your EVP and productivity and ability to generate revenue. I suggest watching this YouTube Short from @GaryVee if you are in doubt of how to handle it. I think Elon could use some of Gary’s empathy.
My overall conclusion leads me to propose implementing Applied Strategic Workforce Planning, the organisational capability that increases revenue, reduces cost and provides a better understanding of risk, all at the same time. I can plug-in and embed Applied Strategic Workforce Planning in your organisation. Start now to have it functional in early 2023.
It’s not too late to start, although, don’t delay, in my experience I can quite likely help.
Just click here to send me a message if you are curious what Applied Strategic Workforce Planning can do for you. I will happily have a no commitment conversation.
